Dear Bickleigh Parish Residents
I understand and share your frustrations regarding the current grass cutting contract which has fallen way short of expectations for this season.
The Parish Council has held meetings and consistently chased the Contractor, Plant Tech Garden Services, to fulfil his contractual obligations. Despite providing the Parish Clerk with specific dates for cutting and assuring these will happen, sadly, these have not come to fruition. A meeting request following this most recent failure remains un-answered at this time.
The contract term with this Contractor was 3 years, this being the final year. Invitations for tenders will go out to local business soon, some of whom have been recommended by attendees of our Council meetings.
With only 2 cuts left for this season the Parish Council are working hard to find a Contractor who can undertake an immediate cut for our areas of responsibility within their current commitments.
In respect of the overall maintenance of Bickleigh Parish, this falls to many including South Hams District Council, Devon County Council and Plymouth City Council, it is not the sole responsibility of the Parish Council and over the years many changes in services have occurred.
As soon as I have any definite news to impart regarding grass cutting in particular I will post again.
Councillor Bill Hitchins
Chairman, Bickleigh Parish Council
