The Role of Bickleigh Parish Council

The Parish Council is responsible for and carries out a range of activities which benefit the community.

Grant Funding

We have set aside £10,000 this year which may be awarded as grants to charities and voluntary organisations which provide a service for the benefit of those who live in our parish. If you would like to apply, please take a look at our Grant Funding Policy and complete our Grant Funding Application Form and return it, with a copy of the last 12 months’ of your organisation’s accounts, to parishclerk@bickleigh.gov.uk.

Planning

We are a consultee to all planning applications relating to the Parish of Bickleigh, and makes comments as appropriate to the District Council. Recent planning applications can be viewed on the South Hams District Council website.

Green Spaces and Grass Cutting

We own and maintain Roborough Green and lots of other green spaces around the parish. We arrange the grass cutting for roadways and verges and we maintain the trees and hedgerows on parish land.

Bus Shelters

We provide and maintain the bus shelters in Woolwell and Bickleigh

Notice Boards

We provide and maintain seating and noticeboards in Bickleigh, Roborough and Woolwell

Woolwell Centre

We are the landlords of the Woolwell Centre.

Community Support

Individual Parish Councillors have representation on Roborough Recreation Hall Committee and The Woolwell Community Centre and we support community groups such as Woolwell in Bloom
